Corey Ian Haim was born to parents Judy and Bernie Haim on December 23, 1971, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His parents divorced.
To boost his confidence, he was interested in sports, specifically hockey. He was not interested in acting at first. Later he got inspiration after watching his older sister, Carol, audition for roles.
He started his career at 10 through appearing in commercials. His first onscreen role was in a Canadian series The Edison Twins (1982 to 1986).
Haim big-screen debut was in Firstborn (1984), for which he received a Young Artist Award nomination. Haim starred in Stephen King’s Silver Bullet, and the TV film A Time to Live, for which he claimed a Young Artist win.
