Vawk Spring 2012
Sunny Fong closed out Day 4 of LG Fashion Week, with his Resort 2012 and Spring 2012 collections for Vawk, in dramatic fashion. The designer knows how to make a great dress and this season he amped things up by taking inspiration from insects (we gasped when we saw the mile long swoop of lash coming from Frances’ well beautified eyes!) and architecture (some of the pieces are named after the greats, including Gehry, Mies and Yabu). Knowing the age range in his customer as well as he does, Fong placed sheer panels through out the more risqué frocks (though we think for the runway, he could do without) and, as he does every season, presented looks on a more mature and plus-size model. The long, flowy butterfly skirts in creams and pinks are sure to please his ladies, as well as the well-tailored jackets, though we were especially fond of the Resort pieces, featuring gold leather and leather necklines with interesting hits of colour (yep, there was more orange!!).
