WE GO ALL AROUND THE WORLD

The tribal trend for summer 2011

Patterns, inspired by international looks of different worldly cultures are popping up everywhere this summer. Take note of the women of Nigeria, resplendent in what is called the wrapper, a colorful patterned garment that is known as the traditional print, and they sport these garments on special occasions such as weddings, funerals, graduations, and Kwanzaa celebrations. Fashion’ s tribal side also includes accessorizing with chunky jewelry inspired by Indonesian tribal clans—wearing vibrant hand-made jewelry complements almost any outfit right now. Models, singers and actors such as Heidi Klum, Rihanna and Blake Lively are all following the trend. Spotted on everything from jumpers to skirts, shorts and scarves, pairing a plain t-shirt with any of these patterned pieces is one of our new sartorial faves, along with these other tribal-inspired wares.
