TO THE LES ON THE TTC

The Bowery brings a taste of New York City to Toronto

The Bowery is no longer just a street on Manhattan’s lower east side, but Toronto’s latest restaurant and bar. Helmed by executive chef Tawfik Shehata and chef de cuisine Jason Maw, the locally inspired menu is utilizes a five foot custom charcoal grill in an open kitchen. The Bowery, a Dutch word that translates to farm, will have an ever changing menu to reflect what’s available seasonally, dinner ranges from salads, pate & terrine selection, fresh fish and meats from the grill and a pizza and pasta selection.

Allen Chan, Matthew Davis and Anwar Mekhayech of The Design Agency are behind the eclectic downtown feel of the space once occupied by Six Steps, with exposed brick and neon orange accents. With a concert space soon to open downstairs, visitors will be able to get the feel of the lower east side in downtown Toronto. The Bowery, 55 Colborne St., thebowery.ca
