SPRING FORWARD

The Bay’s Suzanne Timmins’ Spring Trend Report

The Hudson Bay Company fashion director Suzanne Timmins hosted their Spring 2011 trend report in The White Space recently, giving her personal fashion tips on what we can expect this season. Using the Spring 2011 local and international runway shows as a guide, Timmins highlighted four top looks. First up was “Hyper Colour,” focussing on pairing solid brights in unique ways. According to Timmins, all rules are out especially for colour combos (red and green aren’t just for Christmas, anymore!). Second, Timmins showcased nautical meets the French riviera, with stripes, florals and plenty of hats, complementing this vintage-inspired trend, these looks were perfect for a hot day at the beach. Colours were muted and toned down for her third option, aptly titled “Modernist.” Soft hues combined with bold neutrals (think slate, white and beige) made for simple yet elegant office attire. Rounding out her top four was “Pretty Hip,” a play on the feminine bohemian look, featuring throwback pieces such as peasant tops, flared pants and cork wedges. All in a seasons’ work, we say!
