SWEET TOOTH FOR HARD CANDY
With Weezer’s latest tour being the Pinkerton-Blue Album Tour and Dr. Martens hitting the feet of fashionistas everywhere, it’s clear to see the ’90s are back. So what would a ’90s comeback be without our favourite beauty line from the decade of grunge, Hard Candy? Despite the somewhat revamped packaging, everything inside still consists of the same high end formulas. Another welcomed change is that we no longer have to save our allowances to buy the products since everything is now priced under $10 and is available exclusively at Walmart.
Hard Candy Just Nails polishes ($4.98) are still packaged with a matching plastic ring and the long-lasting formula is DBP, toluene and formaldehyde free. FrontRowMag.com’s picks from the latest line is “Frenzy,” a bright blue, “Sweet P,” a glittery green, and for those who are into darker shades, pick up “Rumor Mill,” a deep indigo. For fans of the pretty pastel shades that the brand was once famous for, keep your eyes peeled as Hard Candy will be re-introducing these classic colours soon, the first being “Sky,” everyone’s favourite baby blue.
For lids, FrontRowMag.com recommends Eye Candy ($4.98), a cream glitter shadow that is accompanied by a mini matching glitter eyeliner. We’re excited for both “High Beam,” an ultra pigmented gold and “Pixie” a sparkly shade of light pink. Kal-eye-descope baked eye shadow duos ($5.98) are also a must have. The highly pigmented shadows can be applied dry for a softer, more natural look or wet for a dark and dramatic twist, that can also double as an eyeliner. The Take Me Out Liner ($4.98) come in 10 colours in a variety of shades, as well as five glitter shades and five molten metal hues, which give eyes a slick metallic look. The creamy pencils go on smooth and are ideal for blending, and they sets for a finish that doesn’t bleed. There are also five different mascaras: 1,000 Lashes, a fiberized lash weave mascara; Lash Call, lengthening mascara; Curl Up & Dye, curling mascara; Ginormous, volumizing mascara; and Lash Tinsel. Aside from standard black, shades range from “Mermaid,” a teal, “Venus,” a violet shade or “Disco Ball” that adds silver glitter.
Hard Candy also has your lips covered with Lip Tattoo, a stain that looks like a gloss ($5.98), Painted Lady, a creamy long lasting lipstick ($5.98), and Plumping Serum, a gloss that doesn’t make your lips tingle and burn while pumping up your pout ($5.98). Our favourite lip product is hands down the Fortune Gloss ($5.95), a sheer, shiny gloss that you can ask a question and the cap will answer it like a magic eight ball with “Yes, No, Yum, Yuk, ?, or heart.”
