SUMMER LOVIN’
Taking care of the colour of our locks in the sunny climes is at the top of our list every summer.
Monochromatic hair was the way to go this past spring, but as summer nears, keeping your colour all one shade won’t look as natural. As the sun naturally warms up and lightens most hair, here are some tips to keep your colour looking its best, not fried and dried.
Stick to the golden rule of what looks natural on you, by only going two shades lighter or darker than your natural hair colour. And if your skin tans nicely, you’re likely a warm tone, so stick to golden-hued shades, says Clairol consulting colourist Luis Pacheco. If you tend to burn (SPF ladies!!), chances are you’re a cool tone, so ashy colours will work better on you, suggests Pacheco. For summer 2010 we’re loving a cool ashy blonde, darker, almost black shades of brown, and sun-kissed strawberry shades of red.

Want to go for a beachy look without too much effort. Pacheco suggests, when refreshing your colour, only apply it to the roots allowing the natural fade to come through on your ends. This will help create the sought-after beachy ombre look, as seen on Mrs. Tom Brady.
