Top three spring nail polish trends

We change our nail polish about as often as we change our mood and as we hope to see spring around the corner, we’re taking cues from designers who polished off their looks with perfectly painted hands on the Spring 2011 runways.

NUDES
We may feel naked without nail polish, but for spring, we really love a nude nail, as seen at Alexander Wang. Be sure to find a natural hue that complements your skin tone, rather than an exact match. Our faves include: 1 .Topless and Barefoot by Essie ($9.99, essie.com), a nude with a hint of pink; 2. San Tan-Tonio by OPI ($10.95, opi.com), a rich, warm tan; 3. Marshmallow by Joe Fresh ($4 each or 3 for $10, joe.ca), a sheer nude that’s perfect for layering; 4. Sand Tropez by Essie ($9.99, essie.com), a sand with a hint of grey; and 5. Frozen Fantasy by Estée Lauder ($25, esteelauder.com), a rosy nude with a slight shimmer.

BRIGHTS
With the gloomy weather we can’t wait more hits of vitamin D, but shades of orange at Dior and poppy red at Gucci will tie us over until the warmer weather is here. Try: 1. Big Hair…Big Nails by OPI ($10.96, opi.com), a bold poppy red hue that makes your nails scream; 2. Papaya by Joe Fresh ($4 each or 3 for $10, joe.ca), a juicy orange shade with a hint of pink; and 3. Hot Coral by Estée Lauder ($25, esteelauder.com), a bright that is hard to ignore.

IRIDESCENT
Sparkly and shimmery shades were seen in forms of gunmetal at Anna Sui and pearl at Chanel. 1. Kisses and Bises by Essie ($9.99, essie.com), a perfect pearl that can be worn alone or layered over any shade as a shimmering topcoat; and 2. It’s Totally Fort Worth It by OPI ($10.95, opi.com), a dove grey with iridescent hints
