Sid Neigum Spring 2012
With some uncharacteristic pops of colour, designer Sid Neigum showed his Spring 2012 collection pushing the boundaries of cultural representation in fashion. Model Andrej Pejic walked his second show of the week and with Neigum’s Eastern-inspired footwear and hairstyles (including men sporting a Sumo-style top bun), the designer maintained his loose and liberating aesthetic with harem-style pants, leather accents and sheer polka dot pieces. Clean lines and asymmetrical detailing stood at the forefront of the collection, particularly the leather skirt with vertically contrasted hemlines. Colour was used in the form of gradients and kaleidoscope-like prints in shades of blue and green, and a vibrant rust dress with leather crop vest. Neigum even mixed his prints adding further visual excitement to his already exciting garments. But it was the stern eyebrows on each model’s face that best demonstrated Neigum’s unique and urban edge.
