SARAH STEVENSON SPRING 2011

Simple lines and abstract prints left much to the imagination as local designer Sarah Stevenson debuted her upcoming Spring/Summer 2011 collection, a first-timer at LG Fashion Week in Toronto.
With a Master’s degree in fashion and textile design from the Institute of European Design in Milan, Stevenson saved the details of each ensemble for the unique fabric art that stood out as an emerging signature of the designer. Models evoked the image of daintiness, with china tea cups and pots as props for the show, accentuating the soft hues and florals of the garments.
In the same manner as the House of Groves show a day prior, onlookers were given ample opportunity to get up close to each model to see the intricateness of the eye-catching prints. A garden scene was used as the backdrop for the show and Stevenson, who’s line stood out this week as one of the few to incorporate significant florals into her prints, attributes the inspiration of this collection to both greenery and the organic qualities of Art Nouveau.
