KNIT WIT

New York Fashion Week Jen Kao Spring 2011

“I love a boy, he loves me back,
We’ll get married just like that.”
Perhaps love is the new black. Jen Kao’s romantic and ethereal
collection for Spring 2011, styled by Keegan Singh, begins with a love
poem and models walking barefoot among the multi-colored sand dunes.
The killer platforms, luscious furs and black leather of Kao’s
previous collections have evolved into something softer, if not any
less intricate. The brilliant knit and crochet pieces remain, but are
now paired with billowy silk skirts, ankle grazing gowns, and
intricate macramé sandals. Cornflower blue is the only color
interspersed between the collection’s dusty neutral tones, and her
skillful combination of textures and shapes is what draws the eye.
