A MINUTE WITH MAGGIE
Must-haves from Benefit’s makeup trend artist and global beauty authority, Maggie Ford Danielson
The only thing that could get us out of bed bright and early on a recent Saturday morning was the chance to see the latest from San Francisco-based cosmetics company Benefit, and when the brand’s makeup trend artist and global beauty authority, Maggie Ford Danielson (also the daughter and niece of Benefit founders Jean and Jane Ford, respectively) stopped through Toronto to chat about her Benefit favourites over breakfast, we knew had to be there.
Maggie recently teamed up with her sister, Annie Ford Danielson, to create Benefit’s new limited edition eyeshadow kits, containing two creaseless cream shadow/liner and three velvet eyeshadows. Eye Wanna! The Maggie Collection kit is a mix of plums and blues while the Eye Gotta! The Annie Collection kit has neutral greens and browns ($40 each, exclusively at sephora.com).
As early as it was, Maggie’s face was flawless, and we were told her go-to products are 1. Benefit’s Boi-ing concealer ($26, benefitcosmetics.com) and 2. Erase Paste ($30, benefitcosmetics.com) to conceal and even out skin. 3. Instant Brow ($20, benefitcosmetics.com) to frame the face and her super long, could-be-mistaken-for-falsies lashes were attributed to the new 4. They’re Real! mascara ($29, benefitcosmetics.com), which took the company three years to perfect.
A frequent flyer (She flew into Toronto that morning and was jumping over to L.A. that afternoon), Maggie recommends exfoliating twice a week or more, drink lots of water and flying with no makeup on (as long as you don’t need to make an appearance as soon as you land) to keep skin clear. Although her face may be bare on the plane, stashed in her bag is Boi-ing and one of Benefit’s tints, our new fave being the coral colour of 5. Chachatint ($36, benefitcosmetics.com).
