COUNTERFEIT CULTURE
Musée de la Contrefaçon in Paris
When we discuss fashion, we often think of luxe fabrics, and the rich and the fabulous names it invokes, but we seldom recall that it is in fact an industry. And with that, there arises the possible problems as in any other industry, such as counterfeiting. Tucked away in the 16th arrondisement is Paris’ Musée de la Contrefaçon. The small museum displays collected counterfeit items from various industries, including fashion and beauty, and juxtaposes them with its real counterparts, displaying a confrontation of the black market wares vs. authentic product that is seldom discussed or acknowledged.
