THE CAT’S MEOW
Micalla Spring 2012
Taking a cue from the returning trend of the choker necklace, Danish-born designer Camilla Jörgensen presented her Micalla Spring 2012 collection, themed after the luxurious lifestyle of the modern woman’s cat.
Clad in champagne, pearl and mauve-toned hues, models were more than content to showcase the aesthetically breathtaking jewels, which featured thick and powerful precious metals and enough bling to make you grab your sunnies.
The pieces sat high on the neckline, but included dangling chains, instantly creating an elongating effect. The most interesting pieces drew attention to both the front and back of the woman with lines crossing the body, one necklace’s chain falling just above the waistline making a strong visual statement.
Micalla proved that bigger is better with a giant seashell necklace drawing attention to the delicacy of a woman’s frame. Some looks were paired with a retro-style headscarf and cat-eyed frames and the colours of the pieces grew deeper as the show progressed, from peaches and teals to oranges and a fabulous peacock-inspired jewelled necklace that gave off the look of a feathered texture.
Take a risk and pair one of these fabulous looks with a two-tone, strapless number for a decadent night on the town. Micalla’s looks emit a whimsical, feminine charm that will make any woman feel like she is wearing a piece of art.
