Affordable and designer almost never go hand in hand, but the arrival of the new Marc by Marc Jacobs store in London has caused a stir with fashionistas and bargain hunters alike.
Located away from the trendy shopping areas, on the corner of Mount Street and Audley Street in the posh Mayfair district, is the first and recently opened Marc by Marc Jacobs store in the UK. Brits are already going bananas for the American brand and the little trinkets inside, which gives the boutique a toy store feel for the fashion forward. Think heart-shaped mirrors, snakeskin metallic key loops, both for 3£, wellies for 14£, and lipstick shaped pens for 1£, all beside the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear clothing and accessories lines. The little chains with good luck charms and wallets made of shiny plastic put smiles on our faces.
Surprisingly, 70 per cent of stock at this Marc by Marc location, which is housed in an old bank and is close to such brands as Balenciaga and Christian Louboutin, both recently opening shops here, is exclusive to the store.
