HEAVY PETAL
LOVAS Fall 2011
Immigration was the central theme of the Fall 2011 Lovas show, presented with a palate of vintage florals and modern silhouettes. Designer Wesley Badanjak told FRM he was inspired by his mother and her twin for what he’s deemed the “Sisters” collection. “I think it’s for…I don’t want to say every woman because that’s so cliche. But, I really think that when I try to design, I design for all types of women,” said Badanjak. “I make sure that if there’s a dress only a size 2 can wear, there’s also dresses size 18 can wear.” On trend for fall, Lovas sent girls wearing texturized fabrics like wool tweed, silk velvet and glazed silk down the runway. A surprise to some, Lovas also showed a variety of evening gowns in charcoals and silvers maintaining a similar colour palette by glamming up his taffeta dresses with Bourdeaux and crimson. Collaborating once again with Badanjak was jewellery designer Rita Tesolin, with footwear courtesy of Nine West.
