Chanel looks to the classic pearl as inspiration for their spring makeup collection
The iridescent glow of a pearl, a classic accessory in every stylish lady’s wardrobe, was the source of inspiration for Peter Philips, global creative director of Chanel Makeup, for Spring 2011. The mother of pearl finish that graces each product in the collection adds a hit of elegance to our daily beauty routine. Opening the rectangular black case of the Ombres Perlées de Chanel eyeshadow palette ($66) is like cracking into an oyster, to be greeted by five radiant shades: Blanc perlé, Rose porcelaine, Violine clair, Gris vert and Gris noir. For loud lips, we love Chanel’s Rouge Allure in Flamboyante ($37), a vivid rosy red, while the sparkly Lèvres Scintillantes gloss in Aragonite ($31) is better suited for when we want a sheer finish, with flecks of blue and pink sparkle. Brush on the Poudre Universelle Compact in Rose Merveille ($49) for an all-over halo-like glow. Sure to be wait listed soon, the must-have nail colour of the season, it’s Le Vernis in Black Pearl ($26), a pearl grey with green and gold reflections. Or you can always add Pearl Drop ($26) as a topcoat to give a golden finish to any other polish.
Les Perles de Chanel collection is available at Chanel beauty counters at the end of the month.
