PRETTY IN PRINTS (AND CASHMERE)

Karen Walker Fall 2011

Kiwi designer Karen Walker’s fall collection was inspired by the 1960s British music and dance movement known as Northern soul, and the silhouettes ranged from boxy wool coats to sweet cashmere button-up sweaters to full-skirted floral dresses. Topped off with black beanies and finished with Beau Coops for Karen Walker brogues and booties, the looks skirted the line between masculine shapes and feminine textures, all paired with utilitarian white socks.
[Full disclosure: I worked on the Karen Walker show as a stylist's assistant.]
