Joe Fresh Spring 2012
Joe Mimran drove the crowds wild with his Spring 2012 Joe Fresh collection, closing off the third night of LG Fashion Week, with a star studded lineup of models, including Kate King, Kirsten Owen, Tara Gill, Yasmin Warsame, Alana Zimmer, Liisa Winkler, Amanda Laine and Taryn Davidson. Featuring his signature orange hue in the form of blazers, ponchos and accessories, Mimran created a gender-bending line with glimpses of the past through mod silhouettes and ’70s bohemian chic. Unlike many of the other collections that paired fitted bottoms with loose and airy tops, Mimran used impeccable tailoring in his tops and added depth with flowing, bubbled skirts. The collection played it fairly safe, inducing oohs and wows from audience, all eager to pop into the nearest shop come spring. Colour blocking, pleats and shift dresses were central to the line as well as an air of preppy nautical, clearly inspired by the relaxedness of a warm summer day as expressed through the show’s opening film.
