Kim Newport-Mimran opens her Pink Tartan lifestyle shop
in Yorkville
“It’s how we shop as women,” Kim Newport-Mimran says describing her new luxe lifestyle flagship store in the Yorkville neighbourhood of Toronto, which consists of Newport-Mimran’s label Pink Tartan, as well as other brands hand picked by the designer. “It’s more about a lifestyle instead of a fashion trend,” she continues, bringing us into the front room, which feels like a chic walk-in closet, of the recently modernized heritage building that once housed The Paisley Shop, an antique dealer. “The store is merchandised the way I want it merchandised, it’s hard to get the whole collection that way in a department store setting.” Newport-Mimran’s lifestyle consists of D.L. & Co. candles ($95), the Dean & Deluca Cookbook, sleek black Morihata Binchotan antibacterial toothbrushes ($9), Alicia Adams Alpaca items, Izma Furs, Abel Munoz heels, Acne Jeans, Paul Sinclair, a Canadian exclusive and then some.
The boutique, which opened this past weekend, will be home to a stable of Pink Tartan’s staple items (think: the classic white shirt and black riding pants), and will also display the rotating seasonal items the label produces, as well as a new line of hand made PT sunglasses (our favourite being the Kimberley), and art work from the designers home and office collections, amongst Church’s slippers for women, Gräf & Lantz Merino felted wool and vegetable leather shopper totes alongside stationary, and other unique gift ideas. A welcome addition for Toronto shoppers just in time for the holidays, we’re sure.
