Headmistress’ Spring 2011 turbans
There is no doubt that turbans have been making their way back into the fashion frame of mind over the past few years—who doesn’t remember Kate Moss in a gold and jewel encrusted turban at the 2009 Costume Institute Gala? More recently Jason Wu sent models down the Spring 2011 catwalk sporting a black version and model-of-the-moment Elisa Sednaoui posed for the Spring 2011 Giorgio Armani campaign wearing an elaborate headscarf.
Jillian Wood of Toronto-based accessories label Headmistress is betting her clients will willingly jump on the Alexis-Carrington-turban wearing bandwagon. And we think she’s right!
“I started to notice the return of the retro-vintage, Mad Men-ish vibe,” Wood tells FRM. “I was in London last spring and noticed headscarves and wraps on some interesting looking people. I decided to put a Headmistress spin on headscarves and turbans.”
The Spring 2011 Headmistress version of the turban, demi-turban and headwrap come in multiple solid colours (we love the bright baby blue Gloria, $100) or polka dots, florals and painterly prints (Liberty of London prints are coming for Fall 2011!). Wallflowers need not apply—“the Headmistress turban/demi-turban/headwrap wearing girl is confident, knows what she likes and isn’t afraid to try something new,” Wood says. “She enjoys standing out from the crowd.”
Headmistress turbans, demi-turbans and headwraps start at $75. Click here for store locations in Canada, the US, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan and Italy.
