POPS OF COLOUR
Stand out this spring by colouring blocking with richly glorious hues
New York Fashion week always brings out the best of the best when it comes to street style. Savvy Big Apple fashionistas roam the streets skipping from show to after party, all the while being photographed for their distinctive look. Laura Stoloff, a Barney’s employee, shows us that a pop of colour goes a long way. To mimic Stoloff’s stellar colour-blocking, choose a long coat in a bright colour such as poppy red. To add the perfect colour contrast, choose a blouse in a blue jewel tone. With the colour up top, keep your bottoms fairly neutral and minimal. Tone the pops of colour down with a sleek black skirt and opaque tights. Stoloff knows that fashion week means spending time on her feet hopping from show to show. She stayed smart by choosing a flat black brogue loafer that allows her to comfortably run around the city. This masculine shoe is a lovely contrast to the feminine skirt and colourful top. Lastly, Stoloff ensures she won’t forget anything by lugging and oversized tote. A classic neutral tote, such as Prada’s City Calfskin in Visone, will go a long way with this outfit.
Style tip: If you colour-block your top, ensure your bottoms are neutral colours, in shades such as black, nude, grey and white.
