While we, like many of you, believe in taking care of our dear planet everyday of the year, here are some of our favourite eco-friendly fashion and beauty items to help you add some ‘green’ to your closet or cabinet all year long.

Much like FRM fave Matt & Nat, Portland-based leather goods brand Ellington focuses on fashionable handbags, made of eco-friendly leather. I’m digging the Joni cross-body purse in tan, $104US, and the Kristen pouchette in orange, $89US, ellingtonhandbags.com.

Earth Mother by Cheeky Monkey, a brand committed to environmentally friendly cosmetics (each polish is non-toxic and does not contain formaldehyde, toluene, or DBP), is a burnt brown shade created especially for Earth Month, with a portion of the purchase price going to local conservation charities. Truc’s Pick:
I love this bathing suit from Ecco Domani Sustainable Design Award winner Eviana Hartman’s Bodkin [bodkin.us] label. Ecologically sourced and ethically produced, its appeal lies in the one piece’s timeless design and elegant lines. Halter one piece, $225US, Lagarconne.com.
Barb’s Pick:
Founded by Tamara Rubilar in 2006, the Montreal-based jewelry line Estrella Bijoux has been doing its part in minimizing Canada’s ecological footprint for years. By recycling textiles and up-cycling jewelry, Rubilar has transformed many pieces into beautiful, yet affordable (less than $100), designs. Estrella Bijoux is available at boutiques in the Montreal area, as well as online at Bijoux Bijoux.
Carole’s Pick:
