Hakaan Yildirim
Going into the Fall 2011 fashion season, established Turkish designer Hakaan Yildirim is certainly one to watch this upcoming season. Winner of the 2010 ANDAM award (the French equivalent of the CFDA), the 39 year-old Yildirim showcased his Spring 2011 collection last fall at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris to some of the industry’s most influential members, including Naomi Campbell, Carine Rotfield, and Grace Coddington. What can best be said of Yildirim’s designs is that its allure comes from not only his articulate and balanced aesthetic, but also on his desire to celebrate the female form by “sculpting close to [it] with strong shapes,” he has said.
