FLOATING INTO THE NIGHT

Denis Gagnon Fall 2011

While some designers play it safe (well-tailored is great, but innovative is better), thankfully Denis Gagnon is not one of those designers. On completely different wave length from last season’s ombré fringed frocks, Fall 2011 was mostly sombre and somewhat haunted, and played out fittingly to “Falling,” the theme from David Lynch’s 1990 cult hit TV series Twin Peaks, that sadly only latest two seasons. The black leather pieces of Gagnon’s latest collection, seen with his signature play on zippers, were this time complemented with pops of blue and pink (both bright and baby) chiffon and mesh, as well as orange, yellow and some hits of green. The pleated chiffon skirts, in blush, black and one hit of coral, were perfectly flowy and feminine under the strict leather jackets and vests.
