Dace’s Spring 2011 collection is all Canadian cool
Dace Moore, perhaps one of Canadian fashion’s best kept secrets, is celebrating her 10th year in business in 2011 (and also has a baby boy due in April!). The Blanche Macdonald grad designs a collection, produced and manufactured in Vancouver, that is consistently wearable and stylish, and also very chicly Canuck. “Being based in Vancouver, I think that the weather has an effect on how I produce certain pieces,” explains Moore. “For example, it rains all the time in Vancouver, so you can guarantee that I’ll have a rain jacket in every collection.” This season, she has collaborated with local artisans to create unique accessories for Dace, including leather pieces from Ashley Watson and jewelry by Broken English.
Filled with beautiful faded blues, greys and cream tones, the Spring 2011 Dace collection, hitting stores soon, effortlessly melds comfort with a certain je ne sais quois. “I was really just inspired by the fact that it’s our 10 Year Anniversary,” notes the designer. “I wanted each piece to be really special and played with a lot of different fabrics and shapes.” The result? Slouchy sweaters, fitted jumpsuits, crochet bikinis, and silky shirt dresses that are sure to make a global impression.
