Cydelic by Choryin Spring 2012
Cydelic by Choryin Choi showed it’s Spring 2012 collection with a video opener featuring none other than LG Fashion Week fave, model Renee Thompson, in a flowing, spotted animal-inspired gown, a strong theme within the line. Many of the numbers were solid white, featuring a crackled effect, mixing sheer and opaque textures. The highlight of these looks was Choi’s interestingly shocking creature-like handbags; one was designed as a shark complete with fins and teeth while another was modelled after a rhinoceros with two horns on either side.
Choi used elongating lines and broad upper body silhouettes, downplaying the bottom half (a big trend this year!) except for two standout pieces with sharply jutting hip accents. The colour palette was simple, black, white and two spotted prints in shades of blue and brown. A clear, polyvinyl-like fabric was added for eye-catching drama, one dress featuring the material in a bubbly design on the back. A visually stunning collection enhanced by inventive accessories, Cydelic by Choryin took a step further into the esoteric with style and mystique.
