LONG LIVE DISCO

BoobyBall 2010

Sequins and glitter were everywhere at Kool Haus in Toronto for the ninth annual BoobyBall, hosted by Rethink Breast Cancer on October 16. The theme was Studio 54 and many guests channeled the Halston era with long dresses, while others induced shock and awe with the blinding qualities of their disco duds; afro wigs and chunky platforms were in abundance, and some even opted for a flashy flapper look, complete with lengthy fringe and feathered hair accents. Many took inspiration from the classic iconic film Saturday Night Fever, incorporating a wrap-around dress or extra-wide bellbottoms. Even the male partygoers were playing into the theme, dressed to the nines in the atypical ’70s three-piece suit.

Patrons boogied the night away on the Twister-inspired dance floor, noshed on noodles from the noodle bar and played dress up in the flipbook booth, all while groovin’ to the beats of DJ Vaneska and Allie Hughes.

Raising over $155,000 for Rethink Breast Cancer and the Booby Innovation Grant, BoobyBall has become the philanthropic event for Toronto’s younger crowd, with the nights sponsors included Stella Artois, MTV News, Mavea, Telus and Guess by Marciano to name a few.
