BELLE NUIT

The Art of Fashion trunk and fashion show held during Nuit Blanche draws quite a crowd

As part of this year’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche festivities, Paradigm Events held it’s 12th annual Art of Fashion event at King West Fitness in Liberty Village on October 2nd, where 10 new designers put forth six looks, each putting a spin on a Belle Epoque theme. This year’s crop of talent vying for the title of Most Promising Designer included Mark Aguilar, a self-taught designer, as well as Stefanie Ayoub, Natalia Cuervo and lingerie designer Amber Watkins, who’s wares were a modern and inspired take on the theme.

With the winner set to be announced around October 14th (past winner Zoran Dobric even donated two print dresses for a raffle prize), thanks to the help of the judges, inlcuding Sarah Casselman (Fashion magazine), television personality Liz West (Rags to Red Carpet) and Melissa Austria (GotStyle), guests were treated to installations from each of the top 10, as well as a trunk show featuring the wares of 24 different jewelry and clothing designers. We couldn’t help but fall in love with the Cameo necklace and icy multi-strand bracelet’s by Fredrick Prince designer Melissa De Luca, as well as the Liberty print hankies by Pomp+Ceremony.

Held last year in the Distillery District of Toronto, Liberty Village merchants, such as clothing boutique Vocado and newly opened Barista Espresso Bar, quickly jumped on board as sponsors for the event (and FRM fave Cheeky Monkey!), that saw media and fashion types, as well as Nuit Blanche revelers walk through the doors of the converted gym.
