CASHMERE MAFIA

Australian label Banjo & Matilda finds its way to Canada

Cashmere is making a comeback!! Well, truth be told, for most well-dressed girls it never left, and following the release of the cashmere line by Lord & Taylor at The Bay, Holt Renfrew will also be adding a cozy collection to their fall and winter sartorial arsenal. Banjo & Matilda, making its Canadian debut this season, is a 100 percent cashmere line by Australian designer Belynda Macpherson (sister-in-law to Elle Macpherson). Launched in 2008, the label focuses on the simple qualities of the soft and touchable fabric, creating a chic yet low maintenance look, with pieces that cater to a woman who enjoys simple yet classic pieces—think, cable knit patterns, sweater dresses and pops of personality, such as a skull with B+M written underneath.

This season some pieces play well into on-trend menswear-inspired pieces, like the lounging kaftan with a single side cinched, and oversized, low v-neck sweaters. Throw on the thick fisherman’s sweater and the snowflake-trimmed cape shawl for a cold winter day or pair the tail coat turtleneck with a great skirt for an evening with the girls.

The collection will be available at Holt Renfrew beginning in October.
