Goody’s latest hair accessory mimics jewelry in the best possible way

We always have a few elastics on our wrist in case we need to throw our hair up on a whim, but they’re never quite as stylish as the watch, bangles and bracelets they accompany. The best solution to this sartorial dilemma is the new Goody Double Wear Elastics ($4.99 for three elastics, available at leading food, drug and mass retailers). The black hair elastics are accented with textured gold or silver beads that make a statement when piled on your wrist or thrown up to hold your hair in über chic top bun.

FRESH FACED

Joe Fresh Beauty Spring 2012

This season, Joe Fresh beauty consultant Simone Otis refined the face of the Joe Fresh girl, with Otis showcasing a neutral base, with a pop of colour on the lip, great for every girl. Here are some FrontRowMag.com favourites from the latest Joe Fresh shades.

1. Start with the clear Primer to smooth out the skin ($12).

2. If you like to keep you makeup bag minimal, pick-up the New Neutrals Face Palette for essential shades for the eyes, cheeks, and lips ($12).

3. Get the Matte Lipstick in Bubble Gum or Melon for bright bold lips ($6). If you’d prefer a touch of shine, grab the Shine Lipstick in Raspberry ($6).

4. Still intimidated by a loud mouth? Give a hint of colour with the latest Lip Tints. If you’re looking to lighten up a red or violet lip for spring, go for the Ruby, Berry or Plum. For a candy coloured tone, try Mango, Crush or Bubble Gum ($6, each).

Joe Fresh cosmetics are available at Joe Fresh and Loblaws.

As if the lengthening, volumizing and curling formula of the refillable Mascara Noir G de Guerlain ($50, refills $28, available at all Guerlain counters across Canada) was not enough, we have fallen for its sophisticated design. Built to compete for precious purse space, this mascara is perfect for those on the go. The jewel-like case—because calling it a “tube” would be insulting—has a built in mirror (inspired by the Rouge G lipstick), which makes for a little glamour in applying your mascara.

From acne to aging this miracle serum combats it all

It doesn’t matter how far from adolescence we get (for better or for worse) we may still get the occasional spot, breakout, or for some people, late onset acne. Our latest superhero product is Skinceuticals Blemish + Age Defense treatment serum ($90, available January 23rd,) which helps to tackle skin troubles that have been reoccurring since our teens, all while keeping the latest signs of aging at bay. Salicylic acid treats blemishes and glycolic and citric acids minimize fine lines, while dioic acid fights imperfections and prevents hyper pigmentation, keeping our complexions glowing and others guessing our actual age.

The Adelaide Club’s Spa may be the best way to keep your resolutions in check

We’re into the new year and with that comes all sorts of resolutions to get fit and stay healthy. After an intense workout, many of us often reward ourselves with a cookie or another luscious treat, and can quickly find our best laid plans not continuing into February, setting us back to our pre-holiday routine. And that’s why we’re glad we found the Adelaide Club’s Spa.

Located inside the Adelaide Club in First Canadian Place in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District, the spa accommodates both members of the gym and non-members. After squeezing a workout into a hectic day, the best reward (surprisingly enough!) is not a hunk of leftover peppermint bark, but a massage. The Spa offers registered massage therapy, from Swedish, sports, and prenatal ($48-$115 from 30 minutes to 90 minutes), and for a deep relaxation experience after some serious time on the treadmill, we like the hot stone massage to loosen up and de-stress ($105-$140 from 60 minutes to 90 minutes). Not only will you mentally feel better, but your body will thank you when swimsuit season rolls around.

SHOP UNTIL THE HOLIDAYS DROP

Last minute holiday gift ideas

There’s nothing like a deadline to make some of us actually get things done. For those of us who leave our holiday shopping until the last minute, here are some fun and fashionable gift giving ideas.

1. Add a little luxe and whimsy with Tokidoki’s 24 Karat Pittura Brush Set ($50, sephora.ca). The four-piece professional-quality set includes the Ciao Ciao Powder Brush, Latte Eyeshadow Brush, Adios Star Smudge Brush and Unicorn Eyeliner/Lip Brush, which are all adorned with decorated metal handles and Tokidoki charms.

2. Jingle G, the latest Harajuku Lovers fragrance is an oriental fruity floral that comes in an adorable bottle fixed with a hook to hang from a tree or stocking. ($19.99, 10ml, available at Sephora.ca).

3. The limited edition Jeff Koons Creme de Corps holiday collection for Kiehl’s is the gift that gives back. Kiehl’s will donate $200,000 of the profits to The Koons Family Institute on International Law and Policy, an initative of the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. Choose from Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Moisturizer ($37.50, 250ml; $62, 500ml, kiehls.ca) or Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter ($45, 228g, kiehls.ca).

4. Philosophy’s The Cocktail Party gift set ($23, available exclusively at Sephora) is perfect for New Year’s Eve. Featuring Senorita Margarita shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath (240 ml) and the Melon Daiquiri lip shine (14 ml), the duo will help any lucky friend ease into the new year.

5. Socks no longer have to look like a gift of last resort. Give a fun and vibrant pair like these red, white, and navy stripes ($13, happysocks.com), which sure beat a club pack of white tube socks.
