PSYCHEDELIC SNACK

Ashley Rowe Spring 2011

Toronto-based clothing designer Ashley Rowe debuted her new collection, called Psychedelic, a haute take on 70s tie-dye, last night. Walking through the doors of the warehouse space on Dufferin Street, two girls sat centre stage next to a ceramic tub, and, the Ashley Rowe clad girls, lit individual candles and placed them inside creating a smokey, yet colourful effect on the backdrop of the space, mimicking the theme, “a tie-dye world,” of Rowe’s presentation.

Pink and crimson flooded the garments, the majority of which were floor length and flowing, with the long lines adding to the illusion of height. Rowe used vibrant colours on each gown, adding complementary platinum headbands, and accenting the models faces with bright red lips. The most stunning item of all were the shoes worn by Ashley Rowe herself, a pair of hot pink, chunky heeled pumps, while the models wore unique, clog-inspired heels, adding just a hint of ’60s retro.
