Aritzia Opens Its First New York (Pop-Up) Boutique
Canadian fashion retailer Aritzia has plans to open a sprawling 10,000 square feet boutique at the epicenter of Manhattan’s Soho neighbourhood in May, but until the new space is ready New Yorkers, and transplanted Canucks, can get their fix of labels such as Wilfred and Community at the company’s temporary pop-up store.
Located at the end of a quiet hallway on the third floor of an unassuming office building, the intimate shop carries a small but stylish selection of Spring 2011 merchandise, and offers a sneak peek at Summer and Fall samples that can be pre-ordered. Conspicuously absent, at least for the moment, are the ubiquitous TNA hoodies and sweatpants that have teenagers swarming the Canadian stores, as well as the designer brands normally mixed in with Aritzia’s in-house labels. Nevertheless, fans of the company’s casually fashionable aesthetic will be glad they can stock up on their favorite silk tops, high-waisted khakis, and Italian wool coats without having to cross state lines, to the closest location in New Jersey’s Short Hills mall.
