ART ATTACK
The 2011 Toronto International Art Fair
This past weekend, Art Toronto marked its 12th year of the Toronto International Art Fair, drawing in buyers, collectors and art enthusiasts from around the globe. Galleries from Los Angeles, Venice, London, New York and Berlin, exhibited their clients and up-and-coming artists at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Gallerie de Bellefeiulle, from Montreal, quite possibly had some of the most sought after pieces, including a series of Kate Moss prints ($21,000-$33,600) by Chuck Close and the brightly coloured skull, “Transcendent Head (6209)” by Damien Hirst ($54,000). Sponsor, BMW, also presented one of their coveted Art Cars, a BMW M1 painted by iconic pop artist Andy Warhol in 1979.
