DESIGNER ON THE RISE

Max&Moi

With a strong French following, Parisian brand Max&Moi is entering its seventh season of chic and sophisticated styling. The history of the family’s expertise in leather and fur manufacturing influenced Max Lederer’s youngest son Elie, along with former head of Ramosport Sylvie Smah, to found the prêt-à-porter line. The brand captures the charm of fur, leather and cashmere in complete head-to-toe and refined, yet street-ready looks. Currently, there are plans to launch an online store later this year and to expand their international presence.

ON THE 6

6 by Gee Beauty opens in Rosedale

Every time we pop over to Gee Beauty for our regular beauty upkeep, we can’t help but leave with a new book, bag or bauble from their well-curated selection of accessories. So we’re quite excited that partners Miriam, Natalie and Celene have opened a concept shop next door called 6 by Gee Beauty. The rotating mix of items will include natural skincare products, items to help make travel feel like a luxury again, and beautiful things that will make your house feel like home. We were overjoyed to finally discover that the exclusive line of fragrance the Gee girls were teasing us with last month is Le Labo. After much spritzing and sniffing, it’s incredibly difficult to decide which one of the candles, oils and balms we want.

It may only be the beginning of November, but we found that everyone stepping foot into the shop were mentally adding to their holiday wish list. Some items that we are adding to the FrontRowMag.com wish list include the stunning leather Globetrotter Vanity Cases, UrbanEars Headphones in violet (we’re also waiting for the army green to come in stock), the Pop 9 Lomography camera, and Jenny Bird clutches and cuffs.

6 by Gee Beauty is now open at 6 Roxborough Street West, geebeauty.com.

JERSEY SURE

Sam & Lavi’s Tees Go Bi-Coastal

There is perhaps no garment more simple or beloved than the t-shirt, and the challenge for designers is to offer value in an over saturated marketplace. Our latest find? LA-based, but New York-influenced, label Sam & Lavi, which just launched this fall and has already been picked up by the likes of Intermix and Saks Fifth Avenue. Designers Sam Arasteh and Lavinia Mirzak offer classic designs in reformatted proportions and luxurious fabrics that are anything but standard. For Spring, we are obsessed with the collection’s muted, washed out desert tones and batwing tops.

WINTER WARM UP

Joe Fresh Holiday 2010

While we were lusting over the Spring 2011 Joe Fresh collection that hit the runway during LG Fashion Week in Toronto the Holiday collection was hitting stores across Canada. With temperatures plummeting quicker than we’d like, we couldn’t help but try to prepare by picking out some fabulous outerwear. Since we wear jackets and coats everyday past September, it never hurts to have options and with the amazing price points at Joe Fresh we can afford to pick-up more than one coat this winter.
