WILD THING

She may be fresh out of fashion school, but up-and-coming Montreal designer Audrey Cantwell has already made her mark with X, a collection of edgy, bondage-inspired styles for Fall 2009. Next up is her Winter 2010 collection, dubbed Salem, which features draped-jersey dresses and separates shrouded in fur. Equal parts savage and stylish, it is further proof that this young fashion designer is definitely fiiieerrce!

LONDON CALLING: BURBERRY OPENING

On a fittingly chilly and rainy evening, the brand-new Burberry store on the luxurious Bloor Street shopping strip opened its fashionable doors to the Toronto style set. The 9,000-square foot new home of this British institution, founded in 1856, even brought in a Guinness. DJ, and model (he stars in the latest campaign with It girl Emma Watson), Tom Guinness was flown in from NYC and provided the entertainment for the crowd on the second level, which houses the women’s ready-to-wear Burberry collections, as well as a sample of the Burberry check on attire for little ones. Men’s items and their line of exquisite accessories can all be found on the main floor. Also holding court at the champagne-filled soiree, Canadian designer’s Jeremy Laing (whom we had quite a lovely chat with!), Michael Kale and the boys from Greta Constantine, as well as a quick appearance by Hero’s star Ali Larter, MTV’s Dan Levy and Jessie Cruickshank, actor Tara Spencer-Nairn, FT’s Jeanne Beker, PR maven Michelle Levy, social Ainsley Kerr and Holt Renfrew’s lovely Natalie Lecomte. And a party would not be a party without an appearance by Bold Face Names author Shinan Govani.

HAPPY HAIR

For years I’ve been an avid purchaser of Cake Beauty’s Satin Sugar Hair & Body Refreshing Powder to help take of the greasies on my fringe (not to mention, my love for their luscious body washes and creams!). And this past summer I find myself addicted to yet another Cake Beauty product.

Luckily for my stressed out mane (in the last two years I’ve been bleach blonde and now find myself with almost black hair!), they’ve launched a Satin Sugar Hello True Clean Revitalizing Hair Shampoo to take away all the stuff that weighs down my thin yet numerous follicles. This sweet smelling shampoo is infused with natural honey, golden jojoba oil and, count them, nine essential amino acids. Thankfully it does not include any  parabens, phthalates, GMO’s (genetically modified organisms), petrochemicals and triclosan. (250ml, $20, cakebeauty.com)

I’ve been pairing this amazing sudser with their new Manage Your Mane Replenishing Hair Conditioner Leave-In & Styling Treatment and I’m absolutely lovin’ my hair. (250ml, $20, cakebeauty.com)
